Adam is a landscape photographer from Sydney Australia. Adam is one of the new generation of photographers that followed the digital camera revolution into photography.
Adam has received several prestige awards including, 1st place for Landscape at the International Loupe Awards 2013. Highest scoring Landscape Print in the APPA Print awards 2014, and APPA Australian Emerging Photographer of the Year 2014
Describing his work Adam says:
“ For me its all about communicating emotion, Powerful imagery is emotional. I have lived with levels of depression and anxiety for periods of my life and much of the emotion within my work draws its inspiration from the highs and lows of these days. This would be the reason why my work varies wildly from the given scene, because the landscape itself is just the canvas for my artistic expression, I guess if there was a message taken from my work it might be “Your not alone, its ok to feel down”. In fact the statistics suggest its abnormal not to have experienced anxiety or depression at some point“

"I have always felt a strong connection with the environment. I like to use the camera as a tool to create images that not only capture the physical location and conditions present but also communicate emotion, experience or an idea. When I am on location I try to relax in the environment and immerse myself in the surroundings. I am then able to absorb the intricate details, subtle light and form of the landscape. It is these times when I am out and about with camera in tow that I feel truly free. All the soppy stuff aside though........ I just love taking and creating photographs".
I’m on a journey in trying to find my voice in photography, and possibly more of myself along the way. My images aim to portray a world that I seek; one that is simple, silent and devoid of the noise that increasingly dominates our complicated and distracted lives. I like to give my subjects space for them to breathe, just like I need to find space so that my soul can breathe. Photography gives me the silence that I increasingly desire. It is my meditation.
My images are often not true interpretations of what my camera sees, but more importantly to me, they are true interpretations of the stories that I want to tell. Ultimately I aim to produce images with a vision to inspire people to simplify their lives and appreciate the very few things that truly matter and bring us a feeling of contentment. It’s this underlying vision that guides the choices I make in my photography, along with my heart and intuition.

Originally born in New Zealand to a Dutch Sailor and an American Nun, Paul has managed to put his four passports to excellent use before eventually settling on the beautiful, wild island of Tasmania.
Self taught, travel hungry and with a healthy thirst for adventure he thrives on the challenge and freshness of shooting a wide diversity of genres. Some of his recent projects include: running photography workshops in the remote Pilbarra desert region in West Australia, documentary work from the Indonesian Archepelago, , a ‘steam punk’ themed wedding in Northern California, band photography on the rooftops of New York, and working as head photographer for New Zealand’s largest music festival Rhythm & Vines. He’s most renowned however for his exquisite landscape imagery.
Photo-documenting a 15-year career in Wilderness Adventure Therapy helped cultivate his belief and passion for the power of wild areas to bring healing, reflection and balance to people’s lives, and how imagery can be used to support this process.
“It has been my utter privilege to walk in so many wild places to help reconnect and come home to myself. I am filled with a deep sense of belonging and gifted fresh perspective and a kind of rich, soulful nurturing every time I head out there. I truly hope we find the wisdom to recognize its immeasurable value in this world of fast deteriorating wildness and the foresight to not destroy it for the sake of short-lived material resources alone.
I am deeply motivated to use my imagery to educate, empower and inspire others to deepen their understanding and connection with the natural world.”
Paul has won numerous accolades and awards for his imagery both nationally and internationally, most recently including three times winner of the AIPP Tasmanian Professional Photographer of the Year, five times AIPP Tasmanian Landscape Photographer of the Year and two times Overseas Photographer of the Year in NZ. He judges regularly at a state, national and international level, writes for numerous magazines and exhibits regularly in Australia, NZ and the USA.
